Benedek Kiss is a Lead Technical Instructor at DATAPAO and serves as a Technical Instructor at Databricks, specializing in data engineering and geospatial analytics training across global Databricks events and initiatives. As a Lead Technical Instructor, Benedek manages a team of 5 instructors, designs comprehensive courseware for various data engineering and geospatial analytics programs, and actively participates in pre-sales activities to support DATAPAO’s growing education business. As a Databricks Champion Instructor, he regularly delivers active teaching sessions and has been prominently featured at major Databricks events including the Data+AI Summit 2024 in San Francisco, and various Data Intelligence Days events across Europe. Kiss has developed specialized expertise in cloud-native geospatial data technologies. He has co-created and regularly delivers the comprehensive “Geospatial Analytics with Databricks” training at DATAPAO—a 2-day program covering everything from geospatial fundamentals to scaling workloads with spatial indexing and real-world applications like satellite imagery analysis and urban planning. Through his current roles, Kiss bridges advanced geospatial technology with practical business applications, helping organizations leverage cloud-native approaches for spatial data processing at enterprise scale. Benedek holds a Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and has made significant contributions to sustainable assessment methodologies. His work particularly focuses on developing innovative approaches to environmental optimization of buildings through Life Cycle Assessment techniques. Through his varied roles in academia, industry, and data engineering, Benedek represents a multidisciplinary professional who bridges traditional boundaries between environmental research, architectural engineering, and modern data science.
